The UWZM was established to be a center for research and educational support for UW Madison. It is dedicated to the preservation, study, and understanding of the fauna of Wisconsin, the Midwest and the world.  The UWZM is home to nearly 750,000 cataloged specimens including mammals, birds, fishes, amphibians, reptiles and aquatic invertebrates.
