Electron probe microanalysis uses focused electron beams to generate X-rays, which are quantified with crystal spectrometers and, using reference standards, yield accurate chemical analyses of micron or sub-micron domains in solids. Trace element EPMA is also possible, as well as measurement of all elements down to Boron on the Periodic Table. #BiologicalSciences #PhysicalSciences
